Gilat Telecom and Airtel announce agreement for satellite capacity sharing

Africa, December  17,  2018: Gilat Telecom (formerly known as Gilat Satcom) today announced that it has signed a three year partnership with Bharti Airtel (“Airtel”), a leading global telecommunications service provider, for satellite capacity sharing across Africa. Under the partnership, the two companies will leverage each other’s satellite footprint to serve customers.

The agreement will enable Gilat Telecom to leverage Airtel’s satellite capacity to serve enterprise customers in markets like Chad and Niger, which have been witnessing an increasing demand for superfast and world class broadband services. Airtel will have the opportunity to leverage services like teleport management, field support and traffic management platform, to serve customers better, in regions like the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) where Gilat has a strong presence.
